Obituary of HARDER – William Bill Herbert

November 20, 1916 – September 26, 2010 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our wonderful father Bill Harder, who passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke at the age of 93. Bill is survived and lovingly remembered by his three children, Bill Harder (Sylvia) of Edmonton, Elaine Malais of Peachland and Bob Harder (Nicole) of Calgary; granddaughter Dana Harder; two great granddaughters, Amanda Malais (Kevin) and Daniell Malais; great grandson Carson Young; brother Dave Harder (Glenda); four sisters, Elsie Gibson (Mel), Florence Baker, Shirley Ford (Al), and Eileen Quist; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Idella, his loving wife of sixty-five years. Bill was born in Calgary and then homesteaded in Sundre, AB, before moving to Carstairs to farm until 1956, at which time he moved back to Calgary. After Idella’s passing Bill moved from Montrose Cres. to Mountview Apt. and onto Extendicare at Cedars Villa. He worked at the Hudson’s Bay Warehouse till his retirement in 1976. Bill was well known for his backyard lawn mower service and his years of athletic skills in baseball and golf.
