Obituary of STRONG- Douglas Roy

STRONG – Douglas Roy March 31, 1932 – September 25, 2010 Douglas Roy Strong of Vernon, BC passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the age of 78. In Doug’s words his best titles in life were “husband, father, uncle and grandpa.” He will be dearly missed by his large family including his beloved wife Katherine, daughters Linda (Richard) and Deborah (Barry), sons Greg (Brenda) and Doug (Laura), six granddaughters Aliya, Megan, Seanna, Kayla, Kirsten and Brianna and four grandsons, Nolan, Cole, Brandon and Mac. Born in Red Deer, AB during 1932, Doug’s life was influenced by the Second World War as a youth. In 1957, through a wise decision to move to Calgary, he became engaged to the wit, beauty and charm of a girl from Lethbridge, who became his life partner of 53 years. This in combination with the entrepreneurial spirit of Western Canada led to employment and investment experience from the oil sands region of Fort McMurray to Calgary and British Columbia. Doug was a man of character who taught us the virtues of living life, the pitfalls of staying awake too late while making noise and best of all, how to be a strong close-knit family. Cremation preceded a private Celebration of Doug’s life which will be held in Calgary on October 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
