Obituary of MacARTHUR – Marie Madeline

February 22, 1934 – September 24, 2010 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Marie Madeline MacArthur of Calgary, on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the age of 76 years. Marie was born on February 22, 1934 in Regina, SK to Charles and Sarah Clermont. Marie and Don lived in Calgary since 1969 and for a good portion of that time owned a cabin in Invermere where she loved to spend many weekends and summers with their family and friends. The raising of five children was her number one priority; however Marie and her husband Don managed to find time to share time with many friends and relatives, and were very successful in making anyone who visited feel welcome. Marie and Don had an open house policy – anyone was welcome at any time. Marie would hold celebrations for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations to gather family and friends, to give people a reason to gather and have a fun time together. When a quiet time presented itself, Marie, an avid reader, loved to sit down and devour a good book. More recently, travel to Mexico or cruises on the Caribbean (with relatives/family) were a very welcomed thought and provided a nice warm break to the colder winters. Marie will be remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Sandra, Jim and Elenita, and Kevin; daughters and son-in-law, Margot and Heather and Darcy Zulyniak; as well as her grandchildren, Derek MacArthur, Krista MacArthur, Bonnie MacArthur, Ian MacArthur, Colin Dunlop, Douglas MacArthur, Stuart Dunlop, Jill Dunlop; and Marie’s sister Margot Merrifield. She was predeceased by her husband Don. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 – 90th Avenue S.E.) on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to thank the staff of Units 71, 81 and the ICU at the Rockyview Hospital for their compassionate care. In living memory of Marie MacArthur, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
