We are saddened to hear of Allison’s Promotion to Glory. It doesn’t seem possible that it is 38 years since we first met Allison when we were appointed to Hillhurst Corps in Calgary. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and we pray that you will feel the strength of the Holy Spirit undergirding you during these days.
Jim, Tash, Grace and family,
Please be assured of our prayers today as you celebrate your mom’s life, remember all those special moments you had with her and hold on to ‘her love for you and your love for her’ in the days to come. Keep well and remember that friends are holding you up in prayer and that God is always with you.
Blessings.
I am very sadden by the lost of a dear friend in Allison. She was a wonderful, kind and gentle soul. I will always remember our times together at Ladies Camp when she always wanted me to “do her hair”. Her love for God was evident in her heart for others. Allison, you will be missed. To her family, may the presence of God surrounded you in your time of sorry.
Please know that we are thinking of you and praying for God’s comfort at this sad time.
Dear Sue, Darren, Sabrina, Brooklyn, Charlie & Harrison:

I know that God will give you comfort and strength for the days ahead. I came to know your mom a bit during her visits in Moncton and I know that she is present with the Lord. Take comfort my loves. Judy & Danny xo xo
Sue, Jimmy and Norbert,
I am so sad for your loss. I am, however, happy that Allison is singing and dancing up a storm with her Heavenly Father! I know you will miss her and because this was so sudden, you will probably take more time to grieve. Be free to cry, yell, scream, be quiet – whatever it takes for you to grieve. Your mother was a very special lady. Take comfort in knowing she loved you, she knew she was loved and now she’s with her Creator!
I have many memories of your mother; I’ll never forget how she and my mother would have little arguments in songsters about singing the high notes! I remember our mothers chasing us around the church looking for us when it was time to go home. I remember her hearty laugh at Family Games Night at church and any other gatherings. But I think my most memorable moment was when we left Calgary and she went to say goodbye to mom. They hugged each other and I thought they would never let go. I know they loved each other and would miss one another.
I really thought when I was about 8 or 9 years old that Allison would be my mother-in-law one day; just didn’t know if it was Jimmy or Norbert I was going to marry – I liked each of them every other week! haha
Here’s a song my cousins and I sang at my grandmother’s celebration of life a few years ago. I hope you find as much comfort in the words as I do:
I feel the touch of hands so kind and tender.
They’re leading me in the paths that I must trod.
I’ll have no fear for Jesus walks beside me
For I’m sheltered in the arms of God.
So let the storm clouds rage high,
The dark clouds rise,
They don’t worry me;
For I’m sheltered safe within the arms of God.
He walks with me,
And naught of earth shall harm me,
For I’m sheltered in the arms of God.
Soon I shall hear the call from heaven’s portals
“Come home my child, it’s the last mile you must trod”
I’ll fall asleep and wake in God’s sweet heaven
For I’m sheltered in the arms of God.
May God’s amazing grace and love bless and comfort you in these days!
Love, Dayna
I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Alison’s passing. She was indeed a woman with a very big heart. I remember the times that she consoled me after the death of my father. She was so gentle and understanding. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you Susan, Jim and Norbert and your children. Your mother will always be with you in Spirit. Please be assured of my prayers for you all.
We are very saddened to hear of Allison’s passing. Please know you are all in our prayers. I will always remember how Allison welcomed a young girl into her circle of friends, and embraced me into her church fellowship when I came to Calary from New Brunswick. She was a very friendly and loving woman, and I know her children will miss her greatly. Another angel has gone home for sure.
Sue, your mom was such a special lady. Please know that we are thinking of and praying for you and your family.
We are so sorry for your loss and you are in our thoughts at this difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Burkett and Mark family during this time of loss, and through the celebration of Allison’s life.
Allison exemplified Christian service to all of those she came in contact with. We are so very blessed to have had her in our lives and as part of our family.
“Grace alone which God supplies
Strength unknown He will provide
Christ in us, our cornerstone
We will go forth in grace alone.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you celebrate the life of Allison and her Promotion To Glory.
Getting to know Allison has been a blessing to us as a family. We readily recognized the kind and generous person she was. She has touched a lot of lives through her Christian witness, caring spirit and giving nature.
We share in your loss and are thinking of you. May you find comfort through His Holy Spirit.
