Obituary of MATTINSON – Mary Campbell

September 2, 1923– August 26, 2010 Mary Mattinson beloved wife of Archie of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the age of 86 years. Mary was born on September 2, 1923 in Calgary, AB to Mr. and Mrs. John Jefferies. Her mother passed away when she was two years old so her grandparents helped raise her in England. At the age of sixteen, World War II started and she returned to Calgary. Mary graduated from Crescent Heights High School and went on to Henderson Business School in Calgary. After graduation, she worked as a legal secretary for Mobil Oil. In 1958, she married Archie Mattinson and together they had two sons, John and David. Mary loved to spend time at the family cabin on Shuswap Lake, watching her sons, then her grandchildren grow up. Mary was a lifetime member of the Alpha lota International Honorary Business Sorority which she joined in 1953. She was also a member of the Optimist Club of Calgary. For many years she enjoyed knitting hats and mitts for less fortunate children. Besides her loving husband Archie of fifty-two years, Mary is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Lina, and David and Michelle; as well as four grandchildren, Connor, Colin, Emily, and Christopher. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
