Obituary of Rosie Yvonne – A KO MOT STA DOORE

December 20, 1923 – August 25, 2010 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother Rosie Doore on Wednesday August 25, 2010. Rosie passed away peacefully at the Strathmore Hospital surrounded in the comfort of her family at the age of 86 years. Rosie was born at the Blackfoot Indian Hospital and received her education at Crowfoot Indian Residential School. She had a great talent for sewing, creating native crafts, pow-wows and spending time with her grandchildren and great–grandchildren. Along with her late husband, they operated a cattle and horse ranch and farm. Her fondest childhood memory was riding on the travois at the Calgary Stampede with her parents. At a young age, Rosie enjoyed traditional and western dancing. She was especially proud of her childhood picture displayed at the Museum of Civilization, in Ottawa, Ont. Rosie is survived by her loving children Clement (Pauline),Ronald (Joyce), Delphine, and Kenneth (Judy) Doore, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, sister Rita Frank, brother Melvin(Rena) Running Rabbit her dearest and best friend Ruby Doore, sisters-in-law Annie Running Rabbit, Rosalyn (Robert)Breaker, brother-in-law Gordon (Christine) Big Snake, traditionally adopted sons George Perry and Ronald Many Heads, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family both in Alberta and Montana. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Doore and son Russell Frank; parents Haughton Running Rabbit and Ada Frances Wolf Shoe; brothers Mark (Mary Louise) Spring Chief, Rosario (Emily) Duck Chief, Louis (Alice), Phillip (Emma), Mike (Frances), Jack (Mary), Joe, sisters Faith Running Rabbit and Cecilia Wolf Shoe; grandmother Mrs. Margaret Bad Boy, and grandson-in-law Emery Medicine Shield. We apologize for any one that we may have missed. Relatives and friends are invited to wake services at the Sister Celine Memorial Parish Hall on Sunday, August 29 at 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 11:00 AM at Siksika Nation, Alberta. Graveside Service to follow at the Chief Crowfoot Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Siksika EMS, the doctors & nurses at the Strathmore Hospital and the numerous contributions made from friends and family during our time of sorrow.
