Condolences
Dear Murphy family,
My condolences to each of you. I got to know Vince when trying to find his war buddies for him. Vince was a wonderful gentleman; I will always treasure having gotten to know him as a friend.

Mrs Murphy, Shauna, Tom & Glyn,
I want to pass along my sincere condolences to your family. I still reflect fondly on memories of Doc Murphy at your Eagle Ridge home, golfing with he and Tom at Willow Park Golf Course, during ski weekends while staying at Charlton Cedar Court in Banff, and the time spent travelling overseas with you when I was 15. He was a kind, generous man and I am very lucky to have known him.
I had the pleasure of working with Dr.Murphy for about ten years or so. He had the touch that very doctor should he cared for them and he could remember the patients by name and what surgery he had done on them it was amazing to be part of his practice, as he was a kind and gentle man He will be missed.
Sandy

Dear Mayo and family, I was so sorry to hear that Vince had passed away. I knew Vince from the SA Ex POW group, and will always have great memories of the monthly luncheons and meetings at Mewata. I’ll miss this Canadian Veteran, and I am honored to have known him.
Vince Murphy was a dear friend of mine through years 1956 – 1967. We worked together for many years at the R G H OR. He will be missed by not only his family but also the medical profession. He was a very kind and compassionate man.
On more than several occasions we flew back from games played, talking about the game and, sometimes, players.
A man who was respected by team mates and peers. We will miss him! My condolences to the family and his many friends.

As one of the many players Vince took care of during his many years with The Calgary Stampeders I offer my condololence’s to the Family. I not only benefited from his sound medical advise putting my body back together but also enjoy sharing a laugh or 2 along the way. He will be missed.

To Mrs Murphy & Family;
I wanted to take this opportunity to pass along my deepest condolences for the passing of Dr. Murphy. As a Stampeder Alumni, Dr. Murphy was a true leader in Sports Medicine and he was a key part of our success and our Grey Cup Championships. Thank you for sharing Dr. Murphy with us. I know he devoted his time to the Stampeder Football Club which meant time away from you, his family to mend our sometimes broken bodies and spirits and he did so with care and attention. Dr. Murphy touched so many different lives in different ways and he will be missed.
To The Murphy Family,
I want to offer my sincere sympathies on the passing of Dr. Murphy. I was the benficiary of Dr. Murphy’s expertise and calming ways on many occasions during my tenure as a Calgary Stampeder player.
I found him to be a very kind, caring man who’s devotion to the well being of the Stampeder Players was exceptional.
I am saddened to hear of his passing. He will be missed.

Dr. Murphy was one of the finest doctors…He performed surgery on my ankle in 1990 and I had follow up for a few years. In that time frame, I looked forward to my visit with him as he was such a colorful, funny man. I remember one of the last times I saw him, he had just stopped smoking his pipe and he said he was grumpy because he missed it… I told him his grumpy was happier than most peoples!
I will always remember him and I am sure he has a special place in heaven…
My condolences to Vince Murphy’s widow Mayo and family. I have known members of Vince’s extended family, and I have known at least one of his patients.
Dear Mrs. Murphy and family,
We were sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Murphy and know it will be a sad time for all of you. He has been a great friend of our family and we are proud of that.
We are enjoying Kelowna and hope someone is looking after your feet since Richard retired. We miss seeing you in the office. Hugs to all of you, Susan and Richard Antoniuk
We are sorry to hear of Vince’s passing but know what a full and enriched life he led. I have fond memories of skiing with the family when I was growing up. I remember Tommy tearing down the hills with Shauna and me following at a much slower pace. Dr. and Mrs. Murphy always made me feel included in the family ski trip. I also remember how fond my parents were of Vince and how he would make house visits to our place when my dad (Al Wallace) was ill. He was truly a caring and sharing man.
Maureen Jones (nee Wallace)
As medical colleagues I was saddened to hear of Vince’s passing. During my internship at the Holy Cross Hospital in 1980 I had the great pleasure to meet and work under Dr. Murphy, a very well respected surgeon. I had the honor to know him as a medical colleague over these many years and always enjoyed his friendship, good humour and gentle manner. I recall him coercing me (and other colleagues) in 1986 to purchase some Stamps tickets to “help the team” which was facing extinction at the time. I am proud to still hold those tickets and look up regularly during games to see his name proudly displayed on the Wall of Fame for his outstanding contribution to the team. I have been honored to know him and send my deepest sympathies to the family.
To the family of Dr. Vincent Murphy.
Our parents, Joe & Mildred Nichols from Castor, AB, treasured Dr. Murphy’s friendship and medical expertise through the years. He will be truly missed by all. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family.

I am a paraplegic with spina bifida. Dr. Murphy performed several surgical operations on my feet and ankles at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in the late-1960s. His operations help me to walk with the aid of crutches and leg braces until a few years ago. I always found Dr. Murphy to be a very friendly doctor who was always honest with you regarding your help. I shall always miss him as a former patient.
Roger Smith.
Dear Mayo and Family;
It was with deep sadness that I heard of Vince’s passing. As you know I assisted him at the Rockyview for years and we shared an interest in gardening and tomatoes. I always considered him a great friend. I will miss him.
My sincere sympathies to you and your family.
Al
I became acquainted with Dr. Murphy when I was an Associate golf Professional at Willow Park G.C. I loved it when Vince came into the proshop. He always had time for me and we would talk football at length as I am an avid Saskatchewan fan. Vince was always offering me tickets to the Rider/Calgary games. I will always remember laying in my hospital bed shortly after having a heart attack in 2005. Who should be standing in the doorway to my hospital room but Dr. Murphy. I will always consider myself to be a better person for having known Vince. God Bless.
To Mrs. Murphy and family. I was a patient of his from the late 60’s until retirement a few years ago. About 7 years ago I slipped on my driveway in Pine Lake and fractured the left shoulder area and a tumor was found on my left shoulder blade. An ortho doctor was called to look at the mess. I asked this doctor if I could have the xrays and the report for my ortho doc in Calgary. He asked me who my doc was. I said Dr. Murphy. He perked up and replied “I trained under him”. Anyways last Monday I had both knees done by Dr. Perlau, Before I went to sleep, I asked him if he was as good as Dr. Murphy. He chuckled and replied, “Back then, he did everything.” This morning I got the stitch removed. I said to Dr Perlau, “You are almost as good as Dr Murphy” and he just chuckled. Anyways I will miss him.
To all of Dr. Murphy’s family,
I knew your father from the Holy Cross – I graduated from the School of Nursing in 1977 and subsequently worked on 7east for some time following. Your dad never had too much to say to the patient – unless there was a box of chocolates at the bedside! He was a wonderful man to work with, he treated the nursing staff with respect, something we didn’t always get from the doctors. His patients loved him for the excellent care he gave them, and they were not unwilling to tell everyone who stopped by what a great guy he was. Years later I ran into him when then I was working at the Rockyview and he talked to me as if he had just seen me last week, I never forgot that. Just a great guy who will be missed by many.
