Obituary of CHINIQUAY – Macdonald

June 4, 1924 – August 16, 2010 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Ade, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He went home peacefully on Monday August 16, 2010 at the Foothills Hospital. Ade received his grade ten education in Morley. After leaving school, he left the reserve and worked for local ranchers. He later served as Chiniki Councillor for six terms and has been a Teepee holder at the Calgary Stampede since 1967. Ade was known to be a very hard worker and took pride in a job well done. Yet he was gentle enough to show his loving kindness to everyone he met. He showed great strength and courage and lived life to the fullest. He had a passion for gardening / planting, also enjoyed reading, sculpting, and was a good craftsman with a good sense of humor. He was the great grandson of the Late Chief John Chiniki who signed the Treaty 7 at Blackfoot Crossing on September 22, 1877. He was a former council member and actively involved in Chiniki Band Politics to promote justice and fairness to the community members. He was also a patriarch of the Chiniki Family as well as the Mark, Powderface, Crawler families. He leaves behind to mourn his wife of 62 years, Georgie; daughters Shirley (Clarence), Linda (Randy), Debbie (Terry); grandchildren Clarence Macdonald (Olivia), Joleen (Jason), Michelle, Boyd, Raquel (Ace), Joni (Jordie), Lacey (Alden), Kayla, Brittany and Robe; great grandchildren Kianna, Jiles, Cashlee and Jonah. He was the eldest of four brothers, Walter (Helen), Lawrence, Paul and Frank (Marjorie), two sisters, Winnifred and Helene. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ade was predeceased by his twin boys, Larry Marshall and Vern Marshall Chiniquay; paternal parents Johnny and Sarah Chiniquay; brother Wilfred Chiniquay; sisters Josephine Chiniquay, Margaret Chiniquay, Kathleen Kaquitts; brother-in-law Frank Kaquitts as well as nieces and nephews; maternal uncle Paul (Eunice); cousins Wilfred (Lorna) Mark, Johnny Mark and Reba Baptiste. Our sincere apologies to those we have missed to mention. Ade will be sadly missed, but we will always cherish the precious memories he left behind.
