Condolences
Very sorry to learn of Bill’s passing and we send our sincere sympathy to the family. Only briefly got to know Bill, but did not take long to understand he was a special fellow and a genuine gentlemen. We know he will be missed by all those he has touched with his life.
Our condolences to Bill’s family. He was a wonderful man and we will miss seeing and chatting with him at the lodge.

My husband and I knew your father through the The Manor at Rocky Ridge~both my parents, Jimmy & Joan Clark and my husband’s mother Elsie Kromm knew your father well and enjoyed his company immensely. He was one of the guys that kept the whole dining room entertained nightly~there was always lots of laughter from his table. Whenever we met him in the lobby we always got the “Welcome to The Manor, the home with a heart!” from him. He was an inspiration to others with his constant positive outlook on life. He will be very much missed.

We met Bill when my mother came to live at the Manor last April. His sparkling personality and friendliness made us feel so welcome. Although we only knew him a brief time we will never forget that joyous smile. A light has gone out at the Manor. My mother Leila and I miss him
I’m very saddened to hear of Bill’s passing, today. I came to meet Bill, or better said, Bill came to meet me during my first few days working at the Manor at Rocky Ridge where he quickly took me under his protective wing, reminding me very much of my dad of similar character who passed several years ago; also named, Bill. Always smiling, considerate of others, the first to assist and offer help with genuine compassion for others with sincere kindness and affection, Bill was a remarkable person with a great love he freely extended towards others. His devotion and love was openly expressed each and every day and felt very deeply for his dearest Peggy, his children, his grandchildren, and extended family members that he truly loved beyond words. Bill was unique in all the best ways possible. His kind words, gentle humour, devotion, friendship, strong spirit and laughter resonate within all of us whose lives he touched in so many beautiful and special ways. He made each day a good day. I feel he smiles gently upon all of us, perhaps mentoring us still.
When I was a young girl a beloved family member gave me a plate. At the time, I didn’t comprehend the significance or strength of the words written upon it. Over the years I would periodically read the words of this plate hung on my wall and find comfort or feel some kind of direction provided from them. Now I will also think of Bill. As he held these words dear, also, I hope the sharing of them provides some comfort at this time.

Our deepest sympathy in the passing of your loved one. Dad (Tom Cundall) always talked highly of “Bill” who was Dad’s Sergeant in England (l940-41) when they served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in WW11. In the past few years Dad was able to visit with Bill twice in Calgary renewing old friendships and war stories. Dad treasured these visits. Dad sends his love to the family. Very sad to hear of Bill’s passing. He was a great guy – a true friend, and a co-worker beyond compare.
Bill and I first met on June 15, 1954 at the Prince Albert Simpsons-Sears store opening. Bill was the trainer and I was the trainee appliance salesman. We quickly became firm friends and remained so, sharing in many Company ventures, and on the side, escapades throughout our Simpsons-Sears years of service.
Bill was first of all a family man, and he and Peg raised a fine family who have all been successful and contributed greatly to the Canadian fabric.
Bill and Peg were always close friends and we enjoyed many social occasions with them, including a trip to Tahiti – a story in itself, plus many visits to their home and lake cottage.
Bill and Peg are firmly entrenched in our minds forever.

When we first came to Canada in 1966 I (Mary) talked to Bill re work in Estevan,. He said ‘If you came to work for Sears the pay wouldn’t be that great but the Manager is oustanding’ or words to that effect. I didn’t work for Sears but after retirement when we spent winters in Palm Springs , some one told us wheer Bill and Peggy stayed so we drove there to see if we could find them. We asked a man in Tri Palms Park if he knew Bill Outhwaite and he repied “Everyone knows Bill” We enjoyed visiting with them, although Peggy was even then not too well, but Bill was devoted to her and we admired him immensely. He was also a very ‘fun guy” He was also so proud to tell us the story of his Lexus.

I was so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing… I knew Bill from The Manor Village at Rocky Ridge, and he inspired me so often with his devotion to Peggy, his sense of humour, his caring for others, and even for his “bladder being too close to his eyes”! I was blessed by his friendship and will always cherish his memory. Bill touched many people in his life. He will be missed.
We did not know Bill very long or that well but he made a wonderful impression on us. A loving man with a sparkle in his eyes and a happy soul. Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes go out to his family and many friends.

I am quite shocked to hear of Bill’s passing. Some years ago we became friends through visits to Palm Desert and Thousand Palms. Over the years we stayed in touch through the computer sharing jokes and thoughts as well as updates on his loving care for Peggy.
I am very sad to receive this news and I offer most sincere sympathy and prayers for a great man and a heartfelt hug to his entire family.

May you all take joy in knowing that your dad touched our lives in such a loving and profound way. Bill was the best friend of my father, Earl Banford. The summers we spent living next to you all are the most special of memories. How lucky we all were to experience the carefree living two months a year. We feel saddened that both our dads are gone but I am also comforted to imagine that two old friends might once again be togther. May you all be blessed with wonderful memories and comforted in the knowledge that your father’s time on Earth was rich in love, family and friends.
