Obituary of GORDON – Joan Mary

October 8, 1924 – August 12, 2010 It is with profound sadness, but grateful hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved, Joan Gordon. Surrounded by her family she passed peacefully from our midst to her heavenly home on August 12, 2010 Joan was born to the late Horace & Bessie Morgan in Bermondsey, London, England on October 8, 1924. Educated in England she worked as a stenographer during the war. She met the love of her life, John, in 1945 and they were married in Four Marks, Hampshire, England on March 30, 1946 and established a home in Portreeve, SK. in September 1946. They raised a family of three while moving to several towns over the ensuing years. During that time Joan took great pride in teaching music and in the accomplishments of her hundreds of students, many of whom have remained life long friends. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband of sixty-three years, John Cuthbert Gordon. She is survived by children Kathleen (Frank) Hollick, Douglas (Geri) Gordon and Daphne Urcheshen; her grandchildren, Sheri-Lynn (Oliver) Ashley, Charlene Dimmock, Camille (Greg) Owchar, Andrea (Vance) Beblow, Heather Gordon, and Johnathon Urcheshen; and her great-grandchildren, Dillan, Mackenzie, Liam, Keeley, and Emily. She is also survived by her brother David Morgan and his wife Margaret, their children Gareth and Derrien, and their families. Joan is also fondly remembered by her Faith family. A Memorial Service will be held at Emmanuel Community Church, 3003 – 28th Street SE, on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 2 p.m. Forward condolences through .
