Obituary of REID – Beverley Leone

November 7, 1935 – August 9, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beverley Leone Reid. Surrounded by the love of her three daughters, Bev passed away on August 9, 2010 at the age of 74 years, after a courageous six year battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed by her daughters and their families: Cindy Ibach (Darrell), Shelley Schmitz (Ken), and Shannon Newman (Garry). Bev was the proud grandmother to four loving grandchildren, Bradley Schmitz (Jennifer), Lauren Wong, and Barret and Connor Newman, and one great-grandson, Mason Schmitz. Bev is survived by her three siblings, Noel Woolgar (Cheryl Tardif), Larry Woolgar (Sharon) and Brenda Erhardt (Gerry), and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Bev was predeceased by her husband, Bob, her parents Leonard and Beulah Woolgar, and grandson Nathan Newman. Beverley was born on November 7, 1935 in Tisdale, SK. She moved to Calgary after high school and worked at Safeway as a cashier. It was there where she met Bob and they were married on March 14, 1956. Bev stayed at home to raise her three girls and after a long stint as the best stay-at-home-mom, she made a return to the work force in the 1970’s. Her devoted love and passion for her family will always be remembered. Bev enjoyed the company of numerous wonderful friends and loved to entertain. She loved travelling, reading, crossword puzzles, bridge and card games. Bev always looked amazing, had a positive outlook on life, and was a role model to us all. She had a wonderful sense of humour, even in her final days. Bev lived by her motto “Live, Love, Laugh”. Our family will sorely miss our hero, fighter, our glue, our inspiration, and our best friend. Bev had a wonderful life, full of love and laughter, and we know she would only want us to remember the very good times and to celebrate her life. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre;Dr. Scot Dowden, Charlene Loosley and Wendy Chrystal. The family also wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the Sarcee Hospice for their kind and compassionate care in Bev’s final days.
