JESPERSEN Margaret Genevieve

Obituary of JESPERSEN – Margaret Genevieve

January 21, 1915 – August 3, 2010 The family of Margaret Genevieve Jespersen announces her passing on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the age of 95 years. She was born Margaret Genevieve Upton on January 21, 1915 in the state of Michigan, the third youngest of eight children. The familiy emigrated to Southern Alberta, where they finally settled in the Pincher Creek area. Post high school, Margaret travelled to Edmonton to study nursing, and there she met her future husband, Reuben Jespersen, whom she married in Calgary on August 10, 1937. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Reuben in 2001, and her eldest son, Eric in 2006. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Michelle Nadon (Richard) and Heather Mercer (Keith), as well as her son Howard Jespersen (daughter Kararose). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Greg Mercer (Jody) and Ken Mercer (Christy), and two great-grandsons, Kai and Beck Mercer. Margaret Jespersen led a life fill of organized business with her husband’s and children’s many and varied activities. Music was her passion. She played the piano and the Hammond Organ for a great many years. Mom once said that the only thing she regretted in her life was not having seriously pursued her musical education. In the summertime, with the windows wide open, the neighbourhood children would come closer just to enjoy the music. She lived her life with dignity and strength. Thank you Mom for the examples you set. A private family service will be held at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Margaret Jespersen, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E.
