Marlene and Family;
My deepest condolences to you. Gary was a wonderful guy, a credit to his family and his profession. It was so great to see you both last fall at the law school reunion and so very sad to hear of his untimely passing so soon thereafter. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. May all of your wonderful memories help to comfort you.
With Kindest Regards, Jean Coutts

Dear Mrs. Bigg:
It was with sadness that I read the announcement in the Edmonton Journal about Gary’s passing. I write to express my condolences to you and your family on your loss as regrettably I am unable to attend the funeral service set for August the 5th which would be the occasion when many members of our profession would get together to celebrate his life.
I came to know Gary when I was practicing as a barrister and solicitor. At that time, we had a number of files where we were on the opposite side. It became obvious to me at this early date that he was a gentleman and a man of integrity and that he certainly knew how to conduct himself in an honorable manner as a lawyer and thus was a credit to the Bar. After I came to the bench, some 36 years ago, Gary came before me on a number of occasions. His professional manner was obvious and he showed respect not only to the bench but also to his fellow practitioner who would be on the opposite side of the case. He will not only be remembered for those fine characteristics but also for the generous manner in which he gave so much to his profession, and in particular, being one of the founders of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association which has thrived as an organization since its founding. Gary gave so much to his community and lived life to the fullest and one has to assume that he was a devoted husband, father and family member.
I write not only to express condolences but hopefully to indicate to you that there are many members of the profession who have the same views as I have about Gary as a lawyer and a citizen at large. Notes such as this are meant to ease the trauma of your loss. Those who suffer most are the family members whose love and devotion was shared during his lifetime. This era has now come to an end but with a sense of faith that he will go on to his just reward from his father in Heaven. May this fine lawyer, husband, father and outstanding citizen, Gary John Bigg rest in peace.
Yours sincerely,
Allan H. Wachowich

Dear Marlene and boys
I am shocked and very saddened to learn of Gary’s death. I am in a 3 day discovery this week, otherwise I would drive down with Yolanta. I talked with Ward Hanson who had a costs application with Gary only a few months ago, and Ward said Gary did not look sick, so it must have hit Gary fast, whatever it was. So sorry for your loss. a great guy and a super lawyer for the injured. Gary always persevered.
Regards
Terry
