Obituary of MERCIER – Lorne Paul

June 3, 1951 – July 25, 2010 Lorne Paul Mercier beloved husband and sweetheart of Sharon of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the age of 59 years. Lorne was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta where at the age of fourteen he met his sweetheart and wife, Sharon, of nearly forty years. He commenced a committed career in excess of thirty years with Jager Industries until he received a second chance at life being the recipient of a double-lung transplant in 1999. For the past ten years, Lorne has enjoyed a passion for genealogy, coin collecting and was an avid Calgary Flames fan. He dedicated much of his time to the Knights of Columbus and to assisting the Alberta Transplant Association. He was a proud participant in the 2008 Transplant Games held in Windsor, Ontario. Besides his loving wife Sharon, Lorne is survived by three daughters, Shauna Rivait (Alan), Lisa Gress (Jason), Tina Mercier (Shaun); and his granddaughter Ally Lavigne. Lorne also left behind his seven older brothers and sisters as well as an abundance of friends and family which he valued dearly. Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Albina.
