Obituary of BENKHE – John Leonard

April 11, 1939 – July 22, 2010 John (Jack) Benkhe of Calgary passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the age of 71 years. John was born in Pembroke, ON to Elizabeth and John Benkhe John married Ruth Holden on August 12, 1961 in Calgary and then moved back to Ontario where they fostered numerous children. He spent twelve years with the Queen’s Own Rifles serving a UN tour in Cypress. John worked twenty-two years with the Calgary Parking Authority. He enjoyed travelling throughout the United States with his wife Ruth. John is survived by his son John James Benkhe; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Frank Strang of Port Clyde, NS, Elizabeth (Betty) Kuehl of Pembroke, ON, Donna and Dave White and Pat and Larry McGrath all of Kingston, ON as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents, sister Beverly Gagne, brother Robert Benkhe, brother-in-laws George Gagne and Ellard Kuehl, sister-in-law Elma Benkhe and his wife Ruth Benkhe. A Gathering will be held at Living Spirit United Church (629 – 49th Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
