Obituary of HERDMAN – William Bill Charles

July 16, 1929 – July 14, 2010 William “Bill” Charles Herdman of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the age of 80 years. Bill was born in Vulcan and raised as a teenager in Calgary. He attended Crescent Heights High School and later SAIT, where he received his Master Electrician Certificate. Bill served in the Canadian Army Reserve in the late 1940’s. Most of Bill’s career was with CP Rail as an Electrical Engineer Supervisor, from where he retired in 1994. He was an active member of the Calgary Chapter of the Canadian Power Squadron until the time of his death. Bill is survived by three sisters, Alice King of Calgary, Kay (Michael) Carmichael of Edmonton and Carol (Ted) Kleinjans of Calgary; two brothers, Stan Herdman of Calgary and Wayne (Betty) Herdman of Calgary; brother-in-law Garry Smith of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is also survived by seven step-children, Charlene Foulston of Edmonton, Charles (Leanne) Gordon of Mission, BC, Art (May) Gordon of Silver Lagoon, AB, Linda Lentz of Kelowna, BC, Emily (Raynor) Kilpatrick of Salmo, BC, Vickie (Todd) Smyth of Calgary, and Albert (Kathy) Gordon of Drayton Valley, AB. Bill will also be remembered by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his wife Josephine, his sister Dayle Smith and his parents Hazel and Rhys Herdman. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through .
