Obituary of Brian Andrew MORGAN

JANUARY 25, 1955 – JULY 10, 2010 Brian was born January 25, 1955, in Moncton, New Brunswick. Growing up, his father’s work took the family to Winnipeg, Manitoba and Calgary, Alberta. After high school and having tried his hand at different careers, Brian found his calling with the Canadian Armed forces. At the age of 23 he started his recruit training in Cornwallis NS and did trades training in Borden Ontario. His first posting was to Cold Lake Alberta, where his son Christopher James was born. Following that he was posted to Petawawa Ontario, Dundurn Saskatchewan, Calgary Alberta, and his final posting was in Thunder Bay Ontario, having served for 20 years and achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his time in the military Brian also served two UN Peace Keeping tours in Cyprus. Brian retired from the military in 1998 at the age of 43 and settled in Calgary. He soon discovered he needed to fill the hours in the day and became a school bus driver for First Student. He brought home many stories of dealings with elementary and junior high school students, and he always got rave reviews from the parents of children he drove and they asked for his return as their bus driver every year. In the summer of 2003 Brian met the love of his life Kelly and they were married October 7, 2006. They describe their meeting as fate – on their second date they discovered that they were born in the same city, Moncton NB, and as a child some of Brian’s childhood friends were Kelly’s cousins. Brian and Kelly decided this was more than a coincidence, BUT FATE that they met and fell deeply in love. Brian and Kelly were at a point in their lives where they were able to start enjoying traveling and in their short years together they enjoyed a Caribbean cruise for their honeymoon, and got to go to San Francisco, Vegas, Seattle, Arizona, New York, BC and the Maritimes. Brian and Kelly were very active in all seasons and they thoroughly enjoyed skiing together during the winter and learning to golf together and challenging each other on the courses all summer long. They longed to retire in a warmer climate where they could golf and play all year. Brian’s courageous battle with cancer ended on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the age of 55 years. He passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, Kelly Jean Morgan, his family, and the wonderful staff at the Foothills Country Hospice. In addition to his loving wife Kelly, Brian is survived by his son Christopher Morgan, and stepsons Sean and Todd Sullivan. He is also survived by his parents, Reg and Anne Morgan; his brother James Morgan and his family; and sisters, Beth and Susan and their families.
