Obituary of Gordon P Molvik

October 13, 1926 – July 07, 2010 Gordon Molvik of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday July 07, 2010 at the age of 83. Gordon was born and raised in Kingman, AB and moved to the Peace River Country at 16 yrs of age to work. Gordon started a career with Century Geophysical and lived in many towns in Alberta while working for them. Gordon moved to Calgary in 1962 to raise his family and was actively involved with community sports for many years. Gordon then moved back to the Peace River area in 1974 and lived in Berwyn, AB and owned a successful trucking company. Once he retired he moved to Peace River, AB and worked for Cardinal Coach lines driving bus. Then he was off to Grande Cache, AB were he was active with the seniors lodge and a volunteer with the RCMP Citizens on Patrol Programme. Gordon was awarded The Alberta Centennial Medal and The Star of Millennium Volunteer Award in November 2005 for his significant contributions to the community and society through leadership, voluntarism and community involvement. Gordon then moved to High River, AB in 2006 and volunteered again driving seniors to appointments in High River and Okotoks, he also enjoyed gardening and his pal and fury friend “chopin”. In April 2010 Gordon moved into The Beverly Centre Glenmore in Calgary and enjoyed woodworking and other activities. Gordon traveled to his homeland of Norway and thoroughly enjoyed that trip with friend Audrey, sister Jean and brother in-law Phil. He also travelled to Scotland to visit his daughter Laura when she lived there. Gordon loved his coffee and doughnuts, he always said his caffeine level was low and always had a pot ready for visitors. He enjoyed watching The Calgary Flames and Blue Jays Baseball on TV and enjoyed all sports. Gordon was a generous and friendly man, always available to help and will be missed by all who knew him. Gordon leaves behind six children, Brian(Denise) of Calgary, Mavis of Calgary, Alle of Medicine Hat, Norman(Karen) of Okotoks, Laura(Perry) of Calgary, Ken(Lynn) of Calgary, thirteen grandchildren, Greg, Gerry, Mike, Jarett, Garret, Melissa, Joel, Kristy(Jeff), Lisa, Danielle, Kurtis, Brittany and Jessica, as well as one great-grandson, Brady. Gordon also leave one sister, Jean Haukedal and husband Phil of La Galce, AB and long time friend and brother in-law Langford Ross of Grimshaw, AB and many nieces and nephews. Gordon is predeceased by his parents Roy and Gunda Molvik; sisters Dorphy Bekkerus and Nora Olson, infant brother Norman Molvik. At Gordon’s request he will be laid to rest in Berwyn, AB.
