Obituary of WHITBURN – Madeline May

October 25, 1924 – July 6, 2010 Following a brief illness, Madeline passed away peacefully in the Rockyview General Hospital. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her brother John Bury (Marilyn) of Kelowna, BC; her two sons Tom (Sharen) of Headingley, MB and Gord (Barb) of Calgary, AB; her four grandchildren, Lauren, Dana, Jared, Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Kallie and Judah; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father Doris and Jack Bury, her former husband Wilfred Whitburn, and her three sisters Helen Guldner, Verna Price, and Evelyn King. Madeline worked her entire life in the flower industry of Alberta, and was a very well respected and award winning flower designer. She participated in many design competitions, and ultimately became a judge in those events. Madeline also loved to cook and spoiled her grandchildren at every turn with her famous chocolate chip cookies and other culinary delights. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, and doted on them every opportunity. Madeline was cremated following her passing and, no formal ceremony is planned.
