Obituary of KRAHN – Anne
February 28, 1930 –July 5, 2010
Our loving mother passed away Monday July 5, 2010 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Herb Krahn, Anne’s husband of 60 years lost his battle with cancer May 29th, 2010, just shy of their 60th Anniversary.
Anne is survived by her three children Glen (Leslie), Miles (Susan), Beverley (Carl), eight grandchildren Chad (Kara-Lee), Ryan (Jennifer), Scott, Mark (Andra), Brent (Colleen), Jessica (Justin), Brittany and Maddison. Four great grandchildren; Carson, Skylan, Owen, Benjamin. Anne is survived by her sister Mary Chuhaniuk and sister in-law Emily Pihach of Saskatoon and predeceased by her brother Mike Pihach and brother-in-law Mike Chuhaniuk.
Anne was born on February 28, 1930 in Alvena, Saskatchewan to Molly and William Pihach. Anne met Herb while working at the Shasta Café in Saskatoon and the two married on October 29th 1950. Throughout their 60 years together Anne was the quiet strength and unwavering guiding light of her family. Anne’s career began at the Marvel Beauty School where she developed friendships that would span her lifetime. Shortly after graduation, Anne the entrepreneur opened two beauty salons in Saskatoon. She was respected and admired by her stylists and clients alike. Regardless of whom she met along her life journey she loved and was loved by everyone. She lived her life with great dignity, kindness and a quiet compassion. Above all else, Anne loved her family, though gentle and tiny, she was fiercely protective and unwaveringly dedicated to each one. Anne’s primary role for the past fifteen years was caring for our father who was waging his own battle with cancer. She spent countless hours at the hospital by his bedside, standing by her life partner right to his last breath. Her love and devotion for family was evident by those who were blessed to be with her during her nine month battle. We will always admire her courage and selflessness.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the care team at Sarcee Hospice. Their dedication, compassion and love guided Anne through the rough journey to her final days. Our deepest appreciation to Dr. Peter Thornton, who always made time for our parents and pastors Patrick DaFoe and Kenn Balzer, for their unrelenting support and constant reassurance that there always was a greater plan. If friends so desire memorial donation can be made to the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association; Annex B, Saint-Vincent Hospital
