Obituary of AMSTUTZ – Roy

November 30, 1931 – July 1, 2010 Roy Amstutz, beloved husband of Yolanda of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the age of 78 years of complications following a stroke. Roy was born in Murten, Switzerland and following a brief stint in the Merchant Marines; he immigrated to Canada in 1950 and began a career as a draftsman. He honed his craft in the oil patch and eventually retired from Pan Canadian Petroleum in 1992 after many years as a geological technologist. In his retirement years, Roy developed a passion for the game of golf which occupied his summers and gave him the opportunity to travel and enjoy his favourite sport. He also enjoyed watching professional wrestling and baking traditional Swiss breads for his family. Roy is survived by his wife of forty nine years Yolanda, his son Brian (Cheryl), daughter Linda Fitzstevens (Mel), his grandchildren Megan, Abby and Marlee, and his sister Erna. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. Roy was predeceased by his brothers Ray and Ernst and sister Elizabeth.
