A Tribute to Ben
On February 28, 1985 a new star made its appearance in the night sky above Calgary, Alberta. Its bright light dispelled the gloom of a cold winter evening. That light continued to shine brightly in the hearts and lives of everyone it touched, bringing warmth. That star was called “Ben”. Ben lived a life of boundless energy and brought happiness to everyone he met. In the short twenty-five years that he lived among us Ben spread more goodwill than most of us cannot do in a life spanning decades. The quality of a human life cannot be measured in years, but rather in a person’s ability to bring joy and happiness to others. For that reason he was called “Gentle Ben” by family and friends alike. Ben has been described as “a Teddy Bear who was gentle, big hearted, caring, giving and loved children. He loved and lived life to the fullest. That star may have left its temporary residence in Calgary, but it continues to burn brightly in the firmament where it will bring light and dispel gloom forever”. When you look into the night sky and you see that star give thanks for all the happiness and joy he brought into your life. Say, “Gentle Ben thank you for the many ways in which you touched my life and made me a better person. Ben, may you continue to shed your light throughout all eternity to come.”
