To Myrna’s family and all her many friends
When word that Myrna had passed away reached Glenda and me in Southern California, we were both shocked and unbelieving. We had last met Myrna and Monty a couple of years ago when they came west from the desert to enjoy some days in the San Diego area. They were enjoying our Sea World and the Zoo as part of their exploration of this wonderful part of our world.
We had the pleasure of knowing Myrna and her family nearly forty years.
I knew her as my personal secretary at the General Hospital — a position that later evolved into the Assistant to the President. I can’t really say enough about her ability to grow and excel in that role. She had an amazing ability to meet, emphasis, and calm people who came to our office often in great distress over issues affecting them or their families. As the hospital complex grew and gained increased specialization, Myrna’s ability to grasp complicated issues of governance and the myriad interrelationships of co-operating organizations grew right along with the institution.
Quite simply, she was an outstanding assistant in an increasingly complex role. For that, I will always remember and thank her. Personally, she will always remain a good friend.
Myrna always took a personal interest in our family. She was always interested in our children and what they were doing. She watched them grow from little kids to mature young adults during the years we lived in Calgary.
After we moved to California the decision to remove the General disturbed her deeply. That was the place she had worked for many years. She loved the hospital and the people who worked there.
Myrna, we want you to know that you were the BEST and will always be remembered by us.
Our enduring love,
Ed, Glenda, Carolyn, Patricia and Brett Knight
