Obituary of KEIGHAN – James Robert

May 25, 1933 – June 20, 2010 Bob passed away at age 77 on Sunday June 20, 2010 after a short battle with Lung cancer. He leaves behind a loving family, his wife of 54 years Shirley nee Pattison, son Jeff (Sheila), daughters Jill, Donna (Don) Lamy. He was predeceased by daughter Lee Ann (Brad) Small who passed away June 3, 2009. Bob was very proud of his three grandchildren Leslie, Eric and Brett; with the goals they have set for their futures and who have grown to be fine young adults. Bobs parents were Tom and Marge Keighan of Chippawa, ON and Niagara Falls, ON where he was born. After his school years he spent five years in the Royal Navy. After his discharge he met and married Shirley the love of his life in 1956. He then enrolled in school in Toronto where he trained, as an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Government. Upon completion of his training he was assigned to Montreal, where they settled and raised their family, he was very active in the Masonic Lodge. The family transferred to Calgary, AB in 1976, where he finished his career. They made many new friends and Bob took up an avid interest in golf. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. On retiring in 1989 Bob and Shirley spent summers at Pine Lake, AB and the winter seasons at their home in Palm Springs, California, where they were both very active in the community. Bob will be greatly missed by their many friends there and in Canada. Bobs wishes were that he was to be cremated and a Memorial Service be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
