Obituary of Jack Garry P. Eng. FCIM STABBACK

August 18, 1920 – June 19, 2010 With sadness we announce the passing of Jack Garry Stabback, beloved husband of Delphi Stabback of Calgary, on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Jack was born in Gleichen, AB on August 18, 1920. He grew up in Calgary where he attended public and high school. He joined the army in 1940 and served in the pay corps and subsequently graduated as a Navigator in the R.C.A.F. Jack married Doris Langdon Buchan in 1942. In 1945, he attended the University of Alberta, graduating as a Petroleum Engineer in 1949. Jack was employed by the Alberta Oil and Gas Conservation Board and, in 1963, joined the National Energy Board in Ottawa. Doris passed away in 1957 and, in 1959, Jack married Delphi Mae Greenway of Lethbridge, AB. With their combined family of six, they moved to Ottawa in 1964 and eventually to Calgary, where Jack was employed as Senior Vice President of the Royal Bank of Canada. Jack and Delphi did much travelling on business and pleasure, and moved from Calgary to Victoria in 1988 and back to Calgary in 2006. Besides his loving wife, Delphi, Jack is also remembered by his children, Carol Lynne Ranta, Susan Gail Paul, Garry Robin Stabback, Lynda Jeanne Furlong, and Thomas Kent Stabback. He was predeceasd by his daughter Cheryl Elaine in 2007. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
