Obituary of ALSIP – Ethna

June 4, 1921 – June 14, 2010 Ethna Alsip passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Ethna was born June 4, 1921 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and resided there until she and Roy were married in 1943. Following their marriage they moved to Nova Scotia where Roy served in the Royal Canadian Navy and Ethna worked at the Halifax Dockyards compiling Civilian Pay. After the war, they returned to Winnipeg where Terry was born in 1946 and Rick in 1948. In 1956, the family moved to the Calgary area and resided on an acreage in Dewinton for nearly forty years. During those years, Ethna pursued her love of animals by breeding and raising numerous litters of Lakeland Terriers and as well as raising ponies and horses. Ethna is survived by her daughter Terry Stephenson (Lloyd), and grandchildren Tammy (Scott) Patterson, Rod (Kari) Stephenson, and Clay Stephenson; her son Rick Alsip (Marsha) and grandchildren Kimberly Boutin (Joey) and Warren Alsip (Clare). She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Roy; her parents Joseph and Kathleen Mitten; and her sisters Wannie Mitten of Bakersfield, CA and Isobel Agnew of Los Angeles, CA. At Ethna’s request, a private family service will be held. Flowers gratefully declined.
