Obituary of TAYLOR- Kathleen Ann

December 3, 1923 – June 9, 2010 Kathleen (Kay) Ann Taylor passed away suddenly in her sleep after a long, courageous and fulfilled life that showed her deep commitment to the love and care of her family. She was predeceased by her cherished husband Hector (Hec) Taylor over 39 years ago and is now in peace with him. She is survived by her loving children Carol (Larry) Ryder, Steven (Kilby) Taylor, and Kathy (Dwight Norn) Taylor; her grandchildren Isabelle (Bryce Conrad) Ryder, Elyse and Morgan Taylor and Tara (Neil Hargreaves) Morin and her great grandchildren Hayley, Madison and Avery Conrad and Micheal Hargreaves. Our Mom was born to a large Irish clan in Jasper, AB where her parents John and Gertrude Donnelly owned the Chaba Theatre and her grandfather Charles (Muddie) Shea was an engineer for the CPR. She grew up surrounded by her family, deceased siblings Charles, Margaret and John Donnelly and is still survived by her closest brother Steve and sister-in-law Muriel Donnelly. The family later moved to Vancouver where she grew up and went to school in Shaughnessy where she met our Dad. In her early-married years Mom had a transient life. Her and Dad moved to Seashelt for the first year of their marriage and ran a lumber mill. They then moved back to Vancouver, where they celebrated the birth of their firstborn Carol. Along with our beloved and widowed grandmother Mary Dixon Taylor, they moved to Winnipeg where Steven and Kathy were born. They later moved back and forth from Calgary to Regina whenever Dad’s career with Grant Industries transferred him, with the family finally settling in Calgary. While in Calgary, Mom worked for the Hudson Bay Company in fashion records for over 25 years, where she made many lifelong friends especially June and Bill Cowan, whom she spoke to daily. Mom always told us as children it was important to move to provide us a better life, and we were always her first priority. Mom was a true Mother and was dedicated to her family. After being widowed at 45, she dedicated her later years to living with her son and his family and helping raise her two cherished granddaughters Elyse and Morgan. Our Mom was our family Matriarch, who held us all together and she will be missed by her immediate family as well as the many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews that she loved and cared for as well. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.) on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank her nurses from Home Care and the Nutritional Feeding Department, her doctors Dr. Douglas Bosch and Dr. Karen Glendinning and the staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital and the Emergency Department of the Rockyview Hospital for their excellent care in the last year of her life.
