Obituary of GODARD – John Denny

May 16, 1926 – June 5, 2010 John Denny Godard of Calgary passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the age of 84 years. He was born in Ottawa, ON on the 16 May 1926 and subsequently lived in Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Yorkton, and finally Calgary where he and his wife Nancy raised their family. In his youth, John was very active in many sports, including hockey, baseball, and football. He was a graduate of both Queens University (B.A.) and McGill University (M.Sc. – Geology). During his career as a professional geologist, he conducted numerous mining and petroleum projects, working for the Manitoba Department of Mines, Southwest Potash Crop of Yorkton, SK and Indian Minerals Department of Indian & Northern Affairs Calgary. He retired in 1988. John is survived by his son Charles (Renee) and daughter Sandra. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy in March 2009 and his sister Jean in 1997. At John’s request no memorial service will be held other than a small private gathering for family. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
