Condolences
Dear Sandy and boys,
Dave is a special friend and Christian brother who I thank God for having the opportunity to know and to pray with over the past eight years. He loved each of you dearly and prayed earnestly for God’s blessing of you. I’m certain his hope is for you to seek and lean into your Heavenly Father, especially through the valleys we all walk through in this life.
Gratefully,
Scott
I am truly saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with him off and on over the years with Petro-Canada and Devon. I will remember Dave as a friend who was always kind, thoughtful, and very accomplished in what he did. My sincere condolences to the Stokes family.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. Dave and I worked together at Devon. I always found him to be a professional and dedicated individual regarding work. As our working relationship evolved to more of a personal one I also learned that Dave was a down to earth honest person that valued family and a good laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Dear Sandy & Family,
We are profoundly saddened having just learned of Dave’s passing. Our hearts and thoughts are with you as you go through this very difficult time. We think of you often.
Love Margaret & Cal

Sandy & The Boys,
Please be assured of my deepest sympathies and condolences at this difficult time. Dave was such a good man. I will greatly miss him. During my last few visits with him, we had some fairly deep conversations, where he repeatedly told me that his only concerns were for your well being. Completely at peace with the fact that he’d be taken care of, he spoke of how he only wanted some assurances that you’d all be okay. He was so proud as he spoke of all 3 boys. This is a subject we loved to share, as the fact that we both had 3 sons was what led us to hit it off so well when we met years ago. It would be my pleasure to help you in any way you need over the coming weeks – and years. Your family will remain in my prayers and I hope you’ll stay in touch with your friend at Heninger Toyota. Give me a call if you need absolutely anything at all.
Sincerely,
Michael
Hi, Sandy and boys –
Sorry we couldn’t be with you yesterday for the service but our thoughts and prayers certainly were. Even though we didn’t know Dave well, it is always a heartbreak when a family is in pain over the loss of one of its members. May God comfort all of you as you journey on together –
Karen and Brad Tarras
Sandy and family,
You loved and cared for your father and husband and he loved you very much. He tried so hard to maintain his dignity through a series of losses and I think , succeeded.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was shocked and saddened to read of Dave’s untimely passing. He was a student of mine back in his days at the CuNim Gliding Club. As the Chief Flying Instructor, I probably wasn’t always his favourite person, but I liked Dave and cared very much for his safety. He was a good, kind man and I admired his persistence.
I still smile at the time we took off with no one to help us except little Ian, who dutifully held the wings level with his arms high up over his head – and more importantly, let go when we started to roll!
Please accept my heartfelt condolences.
My sincerest condolences to Dave’s family. I had the honor and privilege to work with Dave on CBM projects at Devon along with Angelo.
Dave had a loving and gentle disposition about him that I admired and can only try to emulate.
Rest in peace, Dave.
Sandy, Ian, Jeff and Graeme
Words alone cannot convey the deep understanding and heartfelt sympathy extended to you in your bereavement.
Dave will be greatly missed in the hockey and lacrosse communities and as a friend and neighbor.
Mary Ann and family
Dear Sandy, Ian, Jeff and Graeme:
I worked with Dave and always had the utmost respect for him. He was a fantastic person and he will be missed.
Although Dave has passed from this earth, he will live on in your hearts forever and in our memories at Devon.
With deepest sympathies,
Wendy Jenish
Dear Sandy, I just want you to know that Dirk and I were very blessed to have talked with you and Dave last summer about having cancer, about death and about a believer’s hope in eternity. We shared a common spirit even tho we hadn’t met before. I pray that that same spirit of peace and strength in Him will carry you through this time of separation and that God will fill your needs with more of His joy and peace as time passes. We will continue our prayers for you and your family as you go through this next difficult step. Kathy Smit
My condolences to the family.
Dave will be missed he was a very kind and gentle man.
Our condolences to Dave’s family. Have many good memories of Dave, mostly from Fort St. John BC. Including visits to his log cabin on the way to Hudson’s Hope, fishing trips above the WAC Bennet Dam, playing slowpitch baseball and working in the next door office to Dave on several major successful projects at Petro-Canada. During our last visit to Dave this past Friday, he still remembered these events. Good for him and God bless.
I only worked with Dave for a few months before his diagnosis, but it didn’t take long to appreciate his enthusiasm, willingness to share what he knew, and genuine kindness. He was respected and liked by those lucky enough to have worked with him. We have missed him. Condolences to his family.
I was surprised at Dave’s passing. He looked so good when we saw him. My deepest sympathies to you.

I worked with Dave at Devon and am very sorry to hear the news of his passing. Just as I am sure that he was a great husband and father and that you will always have great memories we all miss him at work as well and my prayers are with you and your family.

My Condolences to Sandy Stokes and the Stokes family. He was an inspiration for so many people.
I am sorry to hear about David’s passing. It was always a pleasure to run in to him around the neighborhood.
The conversations we had about the latest and greatest in the oilfield were always eye opening and filled with a bit of humour.
My condolences to the family and for their loss.
Sandy and Ian
It was a pleasure to sit with you both at the Grad dinner. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. May you find solace
in the company of your family and friends.
Dear Sandy,
I will be praying for you in this time of good-bye. May the Lord wrap His arms around you and give you hope.
Love,

My sincere condolences to Dave’s family. I had the great pleasure to know Dave through our ‘formative years’ way back in our mid-teens to early twenties in Calgary, especially in our shared passions of cycling, hiking, and lite mountaineering in the Rockies. Great memories of a fantastic person and period in my life. Be at peace Dave.
