Obituary of CAMPBELL – Violet Sarah

November 4, 1910 – May 27, 2010 It is with sadness that the family of Violet Sarah Campbell announces the passing of their mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great great-grandma on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the age of 99 years. Violet was born and raised in Edmonton, AB where she spent her happy carefree childhood. Violet completed her education at the Old Jasper Place School and then went on to the Edmonton Commercial Business School where she played basketball on the team known as the Edmonton Grads, coached by Percy Page. Violet worked for a few years and then married Colin Campbell. Together they raised four children mostly in the area of Edmonton known as Westgrove, later moving to Calgary in the late fifties. When Colin retired, they both enjoyed going to the Valley for most of the summer months. Violet loved gardening and reading, and enjoyed baseball, especially the Blue Jays. Violet will be lovingly remembered by her three surviving children, Malcolm Scott Campbell (Maureen) of Calgary; Mary Jane Neu (Gordon) of Okotoks, and Colin William Campbell (Ruth) of Vulcan; and eleven grandchildren, Billie-Faye and Colin Bloudoff, Deborah, Scott, Bryce, ReeAnn, Jason, and SharLee Campbell, Heather Neu, Morgan and Jessica Campbell. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Zachary, Taylor, Jensen, Jacob, MacKenzie, Rebecca, Olivia, Emma, Colby, Hannah, Cooper, Grace, Jordan and Dylan; and by two great-great-grandchildren, Maxmillian and Liam. Violet was predeceased by her brother Stanley Thomas Luckett (1922) of Edmonton; her dad, veteran of WWI, William Thomas Luckett (1943) of Edmonton; her mom Isabella Jane Luckett (1971) of Calgary; her husband Colin Scott Campbell (1980) of Calgary; son-in-law William Peter Bloudoff (1996) of Calgary; and by her eldest daughter Violet Faye Bloudoff (2003) of Calgary. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
