Obituary of KOZAKEWICH – Emily

September 20, 1944 – May 17, 2010 Emily Kozakewich of Calgary, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010. Emily Kozakewich was born in Foam Lake, SK, the daughter of John and Mary Kerunsky of Ituna, SK. She attended Runnymede School, obtained a certificate for Dental Assisting from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, and was united in marriage to Dr. W. Kozakewich. They were blessed with a daughter Adrienne and a son Curtis. After her husband graduated from college, they settled in Yorkton for 19 years where they raised their children and she worked as a Dental Assistant and office manager in her husband’s office and enjoyed greeting and talking to people and especially children. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League and participated in many activities and loved spending quality time with her children, involving them in various childhood activities, as well as touring and camping throughout Canada and the U.S. In 1990 the family moved to Calgary where her husband joined a Dental Group practice. In Calgary, Emily enjoyed doing volunteer work in a nursing home, and was a member of St. Stephens Church and volunteered working part time at Holy Name Church as well. Emily will be remembered for the love she extended to her family and for the care and the listening ear she had for her children and grandchildren, for her ability to design and decorate her home, and for the compassion she had for the disadvantaged and less fortunate. She loved photography and for the past two decades, was enrolled in Jon Williams Art Studio where she painted four days a week; she loved it passionately, and enjoyed the fellowship it offered her. She was never satisfied with a painting until, to her sharp eye, it was flawless. And so, as she has gone to a new life that has no weaknesses, and is in the presence of an ever caring, always loving God and surrounded by those whom she loved, we thank her for all she has done for us, all that she has given, and she will remain in our thankful hearts and in our prayers now and always, until we meet again. She leaves to mourn her husband Bill Kozakewich, daughter Adrienne Patrician (Don) her grandchildren Brianna and Jordan Patrician, her mother Mary Kerunsky of Yorkton, sister Adella Zatwarnitski of Ituna, Violet Hnatiuk (Eugene) of Yorkton, John and Beverley Kerunsky of Saskatoon, Glen and Cindy Kerunsky of Calgary and many nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her son Curtis in 2009, brother-in-law John Zatwarnitski, nephew Allan Zatwarnitski, her father and her in-laws.
