I was so sorry to hear of Darcy’s illness and passing.

Although I did not know him well, I believe he was the light in the lives of the people who knew him.

He was a good man, he had a sense of humour and was proud of his kids and wife.

Our condolences to the family, relatives and close friends of Darcy. We are saddened by the loss. Although I knew him a short time, I came to enjoy his sense of humour and his willingness to help out at any hour. I found myself working with him at odd hours and could always count on Darcy as he was known to stay through until a job was complete no matter what time of night. He will be greatly missed, as our time was cut short.

My deepest condolences for the Ek family on their loss.

I had also worked with Darcy at TKE and had had many positive dealings with him. He was always willing to explain items clearly that were needed on his jobs and was extremely patient and understanding when I wasn’t sure of his meaning. This was very beneficial to me being new to the elevator industry and also left me feeling that I wasn’t being talked down to. Darcy was really easy to talk to and seemed to be unfazed by matters thrown his way. I wish I could have had the chance to learn on one of his jobs as he was a very knowledgeable elevator constructor and from my past interactions with him, a great teacher.

The news of his sickness caught me off guard, as it probably did to most people, and his sudden passing is still hard to comprehend.

My thoughts go out to the Ek family on their loss and to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The Local lost a great Brother, he will be missed by many.

My sincere condolences to the Ek family in the passing of Darcy, a true friend and past co-worker with TKE. The news was relayed to me in my office in Regina from Russ Foster in Calgary. I had workered with Darcy for 3 years in Calgary previously and I admired his gifts as a deligent & knowlegable elevator installer, practical trainer for our younger members and a man that I respected and called a friend. We had a very good working relationship and I learned a lot from Darcy while I was there. We always had productive discussions and the usual laughs as we both held the same general outlook on life. Since leaving Calgary, I would occasionaly find myself thinking of him as to what he may be doing, as he was a good man and I thought very highly of him. I will always be indebted to him for organizing the small farewell get together for myself when I left TKE. His thoughtfulness and hospitality was much appreciated. I will miss his smile, freindship and always that little lean he would do if there was something present to prop up on. I am very sorry for your loss to the Ek family and to all his many friends he had in the elevator industry.
