Hi everyone, I just needed to say a few things about Mac that I was not able to say at the funeral yesterday. Mac became a huge part of our family life as a young Man. We met him when he and Johnny first lived in the house in Deerrun and It was like family from that day forward. Two years ago Mac and myself ventured into a new career opportunity. Myself almost 50 and Mac 30 went to SAIT for 2 years to learn AutoCADD. If it were not for Mac and his brilliant math skills and patients I do not know if I would have made it through the course. He was truly an inspiration and we became very close friends, not that we hadn’t been before. The Barber family have been our family away from home, as we all come from Ontario, and share many memories and family ties. We spent many holiday dinners together as well as Birthdays for our children. Travelling back and fourth to school Mac and I had the opportunity to share many family stories. Always the entertainer, Mac when living in the Deerrun house had a few buddies over and they always had a firepit going in the backyard, barbecue and good times. Well one night Mac was unaware that Calgary had a fire ban at the time and shortly after starting the fire the Fire Department showed up, and informed them of the fire ban and asked that they put it out. And so they did. They then proceeded to go to over to a buddies, I believe in Braeside and start the fire up there. In no time at all the fire department once again showed up and it was the same firemen that had been at Mac’s house earlier. All they did was laugh and ask them to again put out the fire. Mac as you all know was an amazing Golfer. Two years ago Doug and I took up golf and joined Mac at the driving range overlooking Fishcreek Park on Deerfoot. Mac pulled a driver out of his bag that looked very old and proceeded to hit balls. Doug and I watched in amazement as the balls bounced off the fence past the 450 yard line. We could only wish to be half that good. Our last great time with Mac was last Christmas when we all had the opportunity to go out to Homeplace Ranch and spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with the family. We had an amazing time. Mac we will miss your smiling face, your sense of humour, and you companionship. You will always be in our thoughts. All our love . The Gordons
Life can challenge us in many ways and some things happen out of the normal sequence that we have been accustomed to.
I sincerely wish that all of your fond memories you have of Mac will supply comfort to you and your family to overcome the sorrow you feel and to provide strength to each other.
Your friend,
Frank Kaszuba

We were very shocked and saddened to read of the passing of Mac. As parents it is so additionally painful when you lose a child. I only remember him as a young boy but everyone has confirmed that he grew into a fine young man.
