Obituary of STENT – William Franklin

March 4, 1926 – April 24, 2010 With sadness and love, we announce his passing at home on April 24th, 2010. Bill is now reunited with his beloved wife (and dance partner!), Eva, who left us in 1993. He lived a long and independent joy-filled life, taking great pride in his family, and his impeccable home and lovely garden. Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his “girls”: adored daughters Kelly (Bob) and Cori (Grant); his beloved sisters Leslie, Marie (Bert) and Shirley, sister-in-law Elaine, and many dear cousins, nephews, nieces, lovely friends and wonderful neighbours. Born in 1926 and raised in Southern Saskatchewan, Bill served in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve, taught school in a one-room schoolhouse and began his career with the Hudson’s Bay Company before marrying the talented and feisty Eva Stan in 1959. In 1971, his career took a new direction as a Social Worker for the Province of Alberta where he worked until retiring in 1991. Nature, flowers, gardens and backyard birds were among his joys, along with cats and dogs, beautiful colours, well-cut suits with superb ties, and dancing with graceful women. Throughout his life Bill enjoyed singing and performing with numerous groups, and playing piano by ear…. ehhh? Bill travelled near and far, most frequently driving rather swiftly across the Prairies and west to the Pacific. The family welcomes all friends and acquaintances to a gathering in celebration of Bill’s wonderful life at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at McDougall United Church 8516 Athabasca St. S.E. Calgary. Bill was a faithful supporter of many charities. Please consider a donation to a charity of your choice in his memory. Flowers are greatly appreciated. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of William F.
