Obituary of MELLING – Lorna Beatrice

September 9, 1919 – April 23, 2010 Lorna Beatrice Melling (nee Beales), beloved wife of the late Stanley Melling, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the age of 90 years. Lorna was born in Edmonton and brought up on a farm near Youngstown, Alberta. She attended teachers college and taught school until she married Stanley in 1941 and left teaching to raise her family. Lorna resumed teaching after her children were all in school and after retirement, she continued with substitute teaching. As well as her family, she enjoyed bowling, curling, golf, cards, Scrabble, and trailering with her club. Lorna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Dieter Hedlich; son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Julie Melling; son-in-law Robert Wolff; grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie Wolff, Shelagh and Harish Patel, Shannon and Darrell Wellington, Elaine and Frederic Brouca; and five great grandchildren. Lorna was predeceased by her husband Stanley; daughter Jean Wolff; brothers, Bill and John Beales; and sister Gerda Adair. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
