Obituary of DERBYSHIRE – James William

December 22, 1941 – April 12, 2010 Jim Derbyshire, loving husband for forty-eight years of Phyllis, of Calgary, passed away peacefully after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer on Monday, April 12, 2010 at the age of 68 years. Jim was born and raised in Calgary….. and Calgary was home. He graduated from St. Mary’s Boys High School and later attended Olds Agricultural College. Jim and Phyllis met in high school and were married on November 10, 1962. Jim was fortunate to be able to retire at a young age, which enabled him the opportunity to pursue his passions which included gardening, fishing, songbird woodcarving, painting, silver jewellery design and most recently a gem faceter with the Calgary Faceter’s Guild. Besides his loving wife Phyllis, Jim will be remembered by their children; Crystal (Lance) Koch, Wendy (Michel) Claude, Gregory James Derbyshire, four grandchildren; David William Koch (Brenda), Andrew James Koch, Rochelle Ashley Claude and Lucas Philip Claude. Jim is also survived by his sister Trish (Sr. Patricia Derbyshire) of Sisters of Charity of St. Louis, brother Wally (Jean) Derbyshire, nephew Duff, nieces Jan and Jeannie (Ed), great niece Kacey and special friends Carrie and Shelly. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in Holy Family Cemetery at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
