Condolences
Dear Sheila and John,
We are thinking of you at this sad time. Our sincere condolences. We will all remember your dad for his warmth, sense of humour and kindness.
I learned how to manage a jewellery store under the tutelage of Jack Siebert. It wasn’t so much a matter of teaching me about running a store, as much as it was a matter of teaching me about myself, self-development of my own potential, thereby enabling me to run a store. Jack was a leader, an enabler, in the true sense of the word. It likely came from his having been in the miltary. Jack had the unique capability not found in a lot of people in a position of authority. He knew how to apologize when he knew he had made one angry.
I remember a principle from a People’s Jewellers course that I took in Toronto in 1973. One of the principles of the course was the qualities that a leader must have to be effective. “A leader’s success is contingent on time, distance, attention, energy, knowlege, and personatity.” Jack was a leader, even when he wasn’t around. His “magnetism” compelled you to be a manager!
