Obituary of NEWELL – Sandra Susan

August 22, 1948 – April 3, 2010 Our beloved friend Sandra Susan Newell has risen above the tree line. Sandra passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2010, from complications associated with a recent illness. Sandra was born on August 22, 1948, in Montreal and grew up in Two Mountains, QC. Sandra was an avid hiker, an animal-lover, a photographer, a woman with a wonderful sense of humour and a deep dedication to being fully alive. She was a devoted daughter to her mother and fiercely loyal to her many friends. Everyone who knew her respected her thoughtful approach, her great love of life and her passion for taking advantage of every moment. Sandra enjoyed a long career in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, contributing her excellent organizational skills and zest for life to all aspects of her professional world. After moving to Calgary in 1990, she worked with the Literacy Coordinators of Alberta, STARS Air Ambulance, the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, the Integrated Health Centre, Meyers Norris Penney LLP and latterly with Literacy Alberta. She was predeceased by her father Redvers Bertie Dyball and her mother Susan Etta (Steeves) Dyball. She is survived by Frank Dyball, wife Nellie and family, as well as by many friends whom she looked upon as extended family. Heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of the Foothills Medical Centre’s Emergency Room and Unit 42B for their consummate skill and compassion. Thanks also to all the medical and complimentary medical practitioners who gave Sandra many years of advice and support.
