Obituary of QUIRIN – G. David

March 29, 1931 – March 17, 2010 David Quirin, beloved husband of Jean Quirin (nee McNamee) of Calgary, died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. David grew up in Strathmore; received his M.A. from the University of Alberta and his PhD in Economics from Princeton University. He taught at UBC, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and returned to UBC before moving to Toronto where he spent the rest of his career as Professor of Finance and Economics at the U of T. After retiring, he moved back to Calgary to pursue his love of fly fishing and the outdoors. David is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-three years, Jean, son John (Lise) of Toronto and their children Jacob and Emma, son Jim (Michelle) of Coquitlam, daughter Kathleen (Troy) of Hamilton and their son Liam, and his brother Brendan Quirin of Naperville, Illinois. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and friends. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
