Obituary of TOGSTAD – Theodore

August 18, 1919 – March 14, 2010 Ted Togstad, beloved husband of Lucille (Teale) passed away on Sunday March 14, 2010 at the age of 90 years. Ted was born in Beiseker and lived on the Deep Dale Ranch for his entire life. Ted was a proud veteran of World War II, and was involved with the Sicily and Italy campaigns and the liberation of Holland. After the war, Ted returned to the farm and married Lucille (Teale) in 1948. Together, they worked on raising a family, buying and building the family farm. Ted loved farming and never retired. Throughout his lifetime his extensive experience ranged from working with draft horses and steam engines in his youth, and progressed with the times to running a modern, large scale farming operation. Ted was a skilled mechanic, was resourceful and inventive. He was a good neighbour, glad to help others when needed. Ted was generous, had a positive outlook and a good sense of humor. Besides his loving wife of sixty one years, Ted is survived by his children Frank (Jean) Togstad of Calgary, and Laura (Doug) Baxter of Pine Lake, four grandsons Nathan Baxter, Jacob, Lucas, and Micah Togstad, and one granddaughter Anne Baxter. Ted was predeceased by his parents Dave and Laura Togstad, his sister Florence Milner, and his brother Davy Togstad. Funeral Service will be held at Crossfield United Church (1005 Ross Street Crossfield, AB) on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Graveside Service to follow in the Crossfield Cemetery.
