Obituary of JORDAN – Mary Stella

May 19, 1918 – March 6, 2010 Stella Jordan passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the age of 91 years. She was born on May 19, 1918 in Calgary, AB, one of fourteen children born to William and Bridgette Cummins. The family lived in Ramsay, Albert Park and Inglewood communities of Calgary. After marrying George, the couple moved to Royalties for a time and then back to Inglewood where they resided for the rest of their lives. The Cummins family built and operated the original Shamrock Hotel. The daughters continued the ownership of the hotel after the passing of their parents. Stella was involved in her community and in her church. Her father was one of the original founders of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in the Ramsay District and needless to say, Stella and her sisters were St. Anne supporters and probably, in those days, her family took up most of the pews. She is survived by her son Bob (Candy), one remaining sister Pat Hall of Burnaby, B.C., daughter-in-law Karen Jordan, grandchildren Pam Ediger, Joanna Vollman, Jim, Jackie, Jeremy and Chris Jordan. She is also survived by great grandchildren Mandy Ediger, Jordan Ediger, Julia Jordan, Alana Mittertreiner, Jorgia Jordan and Dylan Vollman, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Stella was predeceased by her husband George Ivan in 1989, son George Arthur in 2005, and great granddaughter Allyson Kate Vollman in 2008. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24 Street S.W.) on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jack Pereira and Rev. Rupert A. MacLellan Presiders. Interment to take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank the staff of the Beverly Centre Glenmore for their compassionate care Stella received during her stay. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of your choice. In living memory of Stella Jordan, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403) 243-8200.
