I always wanted to have a brother. I’m so glad I was able to spend the last Christmas 2009, with you all in Canada. I really appreciated the time talking with Jim and getting to know him better. I have lots of treasured memories of my brother-in-law now. Remembered with love. Elayne
We were students together in Engineering. He was unique, quiet, and soft spoken. He was obviously very bright. Unlike the rest of us, he wore a suit and tie. A very decent man. I wish I had gotten to know him better.
I was saddened to learn of Jim’s recent passing. Jim and I went to university together and we graduated in metallurgical engineering in 1964. Jim was always very kind and generous. I remember him taking his classmates to his home one evening in fourth year for “a decent meal”. We enjoyed meeting his mother and father and Pam. Jim loved the outdoors. We went camping in the wilds north of Hinton after our fourth year. We worked together on the Arctic Gas and on the Foothills pipeline projects. More recently, I would see him at ASM meetings. I have many fond memories of Jim that I will treasure.
I was saddened to hear that Jim had died. Most of my contact with Jim was when we served together for many years on the executive of the Calgary Chapter of ASM. I was always grateful for his abilities in recognizing the main point, and keeping the discussions on track. I remember him fondly.
I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Jim with fondness. He taught me so much and I admired him greatly as a good man with intelligence and dedication. Remembering my time working for him on the Arctic Gas Project provides me with very good memories.
