Obituary of ANDERSON – Rose Pauline

March 1, 1923 – February 26, 2010 Beloved wife of sixty-eight years to Ivan of Calgary, Rose peacefully went to her Lord surrounded by her family and listening to her favourite music. Rose was born in Blairmore, AB into the coal mining family of Domenic and Juliana Campo. During WWII, Rose achieved the rank of Corporal in the CWAC, working as the only woman in the field hospital in Suffield. Rose and Ivan made their home in Calgary and raised six children; Spencer (Evelyn), Roxana (Leonard), Wendy (Don), Lance (Chris), Heather and Stacey (Les). All of us feel blessed to have had such a bright and loving woman to call Mom. During her life, Rose volunteered as a crisis counsellor, was the editor of the church newsletter and enjoyed diverse world travels with her family. A lifelong love of learning and music led Rose to be the administrator of an online music room well into her 80’s. For a separated Ethiopian family, Rose’s tireless efforts were crucial in reuniting and bringing them all to Canada. Seeing them back together was one of Rose’s proudest moments. Rose also leaves to mourn her eldest sister Victoria Smaniotto, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Orlando and her sisters (our Aunties): Dorothy, Marie and Connie. Funeral Services will be held at FOOTHILLS LUTHERAN CHURCH (3104 – 34th Avenue N.W.), on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Lutheran World Relief. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Rose Anderson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
