Obituary of WESTLUND – Marjorie Annetta

November 11, 1926 – February 24, 2010 We are saddened to announce that Marjorie passed away after a brief illness at the Peter Lougheed Centre Tuesday at the age of 83. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Donald, and leaves a lifetime of rich memories for her daughters, Drexel (Richard Walker), Janice (David Turner), Carol, Linda (Bill Dier) and sons, David (Louella Loewen) and Peter (Cathy Allen). She will be also be deeply missed by the grandchildren who gave her so much delight: Ann, Emma, Paul, Joelle, Meaghan, Leigh, Kate and David. An exceptional woman and friend, she leaves behind her remaining sister, Eileen Wallace and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie lived her early years near Carbon, AB and eventually settled in Regina with Donald to raise a family before returning to Calgary in 1970. She graduated from Mount Royal’s Social Work program in 1984 and subsequently worked for the Sonshine Centre in Calgary and later the Municipality of Greenview’s Family and Community Social Services when she and Don moved to their homestead near Valleyview to raise bison. Marjorie was the foundation of a strong connected family and will be forever missed and fondly remembered by those who called her wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. We are appreciative for the care and attention she received from the able nurses at Home Care and the staff at Peter Lougheed Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W.), on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
