Obituary of BOWES – HEID

December 29, 1938 – February 24, 2010 Heid Bowes beloved wife of Jerry Bowes of Calgary passed away suddenly on Wednesday February 24, 2010 at the age of 71. Although Heid had been battling a form of heart disease for the past few years, all recent tests had been favourable, this result was most unexpected. Heid was born in Dortmund Germany on December 29, 1938 and later moved to Canada. She was trained as a secretary/accountant and excelled in her chosen field both in Germany and Canada. In 1959 she was wooed by a young Canadian hockey player named Jerry, he eventually won her heart and they were married on April 12, 1960. Heid was blessed with both inner and outer beauty complimented by a strong personality that won her many close and dear friends over the years. Her philosophy in life was to share with those less fortunate, believing it is more rewarding to give than receive. She was an excellent cook and baker, and was renowned for her Christmas cookies and at her favourite Golf Course, Redwood Meadows, many savoured what we know and love as Heid’s cookies. Heid enjoyed her golf family and her immediate family dearly and will be sorely missed by all that knew her. Heid is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jerry. She is also survived by four sisters, Lilo (Harry) Owen, Annegret Ricken (Gunter), Marlies (Adolf) Alberts, Sigrun (Reinhart) Zeiler a brother Ekke (Helga) Lindermann; Jerry’s brother Greg (Darlene) Bowes, Jerry’s aunt Mary Bowes; Heid’s nieces and nephews, Andrea, Karin (John), Tom, Siegfried (Beatrix), Christa (Andres), Ole Christian, Hanna, Kerstin (Siggi), Laura, Antonia, Torsten (Annette), David, Pia, Christine (Brent), Aedan, Idony Heid, Sigi (Eli), Luis Miguel, Scott (Jestina), Marty (Julie).
