Obituary of McBEAN – Martin

August 16, 1923 – February 20, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Father and Husband, Martin McBean. On February 20th, Martin joined his Father, Mother and Brother Allen. Born August 16, 1923 in Scotland, Martin came to Canada in 1926 with his parents, a brother Allan and sister Faye. Martin will be sadly missed by his wife and companion Wilma; his sister Faye; his daughters, Gaile (children, Shad and Troy) of Calgary, Arlene (children, Lisa in memory, and Brent) of Calgary, and Patricia and Vic (children, Angela and Pam) of Penticton; and his son James (children, Emily, Brigham, Nicole, Clay, and Caleb) of Beiseker. Martin was particularly proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. During his time with us, Dad spent his days in the hardware business; Dad retired in 1978 as the General Manager of Link Hardware. During the next several years he and mom spent the days playing tennis, and always made time for a few refreshments and snacks after the game. He was extremely fond of his time in Phoenix, AZ, he loved the great friends he made and really enjoyed all the company. Recently Dad and Mom he spent more time in Victoria, as he said “you don’t have to shovel the rain”. These last few years kept him close to home in Calgary, where he spent his days taking care of our mother. He made it his personal goal to make sure his wife and companion was well taken care of. Our Dad taught us all “that a bad day on the tennis court is better than a good day at work”, work hard but work harder at living each day to the fullest. A Private Family Memorial Service was held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, February 25, 2010. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
