Obituary of SEIDEL – Katherine

May 30, 1925 – February 10, 2010 It is with much love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Katherine Seidel of Calgary, on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the age of 84 years. Katherine was born in Kimisch, Poland and later lived in Germany where she met and married Frank in 1946. In 1951 they immigrated to Canada for a better life with their two children, Christine and Terry. Katherine lived in Calgary since 1951 and was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish. Katherine’s faith was a very important part of her life. Katherine is survived by her daughter Christine and son-in-law Patrick Whitley of Calgary; grandson Craig (Kathy) Stowell; granddaughter Kerry (Darren) Kinney; and three great grandchildren, Edie, Camryn and Kale. Katherine is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins as well as many extended family members. Katherine was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1989, her son Terry in 1978, her parents Eva and Johan Leicht, as well as her brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (640 – 19th Avenue N.W.) on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in St. Joseph’s Section at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
