Obituary of NORTHCOTT– William Frank

April 30, 1927 – February 8, 2010 W. Frank Northcott beloved husband of Lauretta Northcott of Airdrie and formerly of Crossfield, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 at the age of 82 years. Frank was born in Calgary, the seventh child of William and Laura Northcott. He received his education at Dry Creek, Airdrie High School and Mount Royal College. Frank served with the RCAF for two years, prior to beginning to work as a roughneck on oil well drilling rigs, where he progressed to the position of Drilling Supervisor. Frank also worked for Mobil Oil and Alberta Government Energy Resources. He attended U of A in 1971 for a year before he began teaching Petroleum Technology at SAIT. Frank worked as a Drilling Supervisor in Iran and also went on a mission for the United Nations to Syria. In 1982 he joined Petro Canada as Drilliing and Safety Supervisor. In1987 he began his own business as a Drilling and Safety Consultant from which he retired in 1991. Frank lived on a lovely acreage near Crossfield until retiring to Airdrie in 2008. He enjoyed old time dancing, two stepping, skiing, bridge, gardening, horseback riding and raising a small flock of sheep. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Royal Canadian Legion and the Crossfield Oldtimers Association. Frank is survived by his loving wife Lauretta, whom he married in 1990, his son Sean, Lauretta’s son and daughters Colby (Heather) King, Regina King, Shirley Pelsma and Kathy (Bernie) Barron as well as their families. He is also survived by two brothers Norman and Stan Northcott and a sister Ellen Kirby. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Airdrie Funeral Home (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta) on Friday February 12, 2010 from 11a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST.
