Condolences
Dear Verna, We were very sorry to read in the Globe about Ed. He was a very fine man and we enjoyed his company on so many occasions, especially when we were in Calgary. You and Ed were so very kind to us. Our sympathy to you and all the family

He was a pleasure to work with and he did a great job for TD. A very successful life
For Kevin and the Warriner Family: I just happened upon the obituary while reading the Calgary Herald. Kevin, I am very sorry for the loss of your Grandfather, from what I read he led an extremely full and rewarding life. My sincere condolences.
Dear Verna and Family, I was just looking at some pictures of Ed and Verna and my mom and dad (Larry and Margie McLafferty) and thinking of how much fun they had together in Florida. Ed and Verna were so fun to be around and mom and dad dearly loved them. I loved our lunch at “Rotten Ralphs” when I was visiting. Ed died on the same date as my mom did 4 years ago! I was thinking so much of her on Saturday and now I will also think of dear Ed. He and my dad’s birthdays were a day apart too. Thank you and Verna for being such special friends and for all the happy memories you shared together. Our hearts and prayers are with you at this time of sadness.
Fondly Mary Margaret
We had the pleasure of Aunt Verna & Uncle Ed’s visit to our cottage in Northern Ontario more than once. I also had the pleasure when in Calgary at a conference to take extra few days staying at their home.
Bev. & I think the world of Verna & Ed and he will be sadly missed.
You have lost a wonderful Gentleman. I will remember Ed for his calm, pleasant and positive demeanor. A true friend to my parents [Jack & Katie] and a sincere inquirer of what and how I was doing. It had been sometime since I had contacted Ed, but a phone call to request his attendance at my Mom’s 90th Birthday celebration brought me back in touch with this easy to talk to man from my youth. I asked if he and Verna could attend, he answered yes of course we would be pleased to attend. It was a pleasure to be in his company again, realizing the major effort that he and Verna had gone to be with us at the party. Ed’s example of courage, friendship and perseverance will remain with me always.
My sincere condolences for your loss.
It is with great sadness that I learn of Ed’s passing. He was a remarkable man, and I feel honoured to have known him. I will always remember and treasure our conversations and shared experiences, and will miss him dearly.
I regret my current condition prevents my ability to visit Verna and family. Please accept my condolences.
Sincerely,
Stephen Smylie
