I knew John through Paula and her skating world. Everytime we were together John was such a positive spirit, very supportive of the dreams of others. I’m sure he`ll continue to watch over all his family and be your biggest fan.
All our love, Patti and Megan
I got to know John through hockey in coaching Erin, and I can think of no bigger fan of his daughter, the sport, nor a bigger supporter. He always found time to contribute in a big way to his daughter’s life and her team, and was always 100% supportive. I have many fond memories of John and he will be missed in my life.
Paula, Chris, Erin, know that you are all in my thoughts and that there are many with you in these difficult days ahead. My thoughts and condolences as well as my support are with you during this difficult time and always.
Kevin
Dear Mrs. Lally, Paula, Chris, and Erin,
As one of my best friends through adolescence my memories of John are vivid and joyful. The mutual interests and passions we shared were numerous and varied.
I was fortunate to have John share so much of his youth with me. My first cooking experiences were the result of John showing me how to cook KD for lunch and how to properly throw the pasta at the refrigerator door to see if it was done. If it stuck it was time for Kraft Dinner! John was very advanced, perhaps gifted for his time; this was all prior to university!
We attended numerous concerts at MLG via the “Bribe The Doorman With $5” scheme which worked every time. We often spent our quarters playing Pin-Ball at Yonge St. dives and received a first hand appreciation for growing up in Lawrence Park. This was without platform shoes!
We both began our formal tennis teaching careers at Blessed Sacrament and Wanless Park Tennis Clubs which evolved into full time teaching with the Etobicoke Parks and Recreation Department where we often travelled together to the same or different assignments. John is the first person I told “I just met the woman I am going to marry!” after the first group lesson I ever gave Jo. He was supportive in his disbelief.
Our memories remain and will be recalled fondly, often and reassuringly.
We send our utmost sympathies and respect.

Paula, Erin, & Chris,
We are very sad & shocked to hear of John’s passing. In the brief couple of years that we spent with John at the arena, he was a great fan of the Flyers, and an incredible supporter of Erin. We can hardly think of a game when he wasn’t there. We will miss him.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
John & Nancy Griffin

Dear Paula, Chris and Erin,
Please know I’m thinking of you all!
Erin,
My thoughts have been with you and your family all week.
Your dad was your biggest fan and advocate; while the sadness that goes with losing him seems unbearable right now, the gifts he gave to you will give you strength for the rest of your life.
Ms. Roselle
I am so sorry to hear about John’s passing. I worked with him at SAIT for several years, and I remember him often as someone who was always ready with a joke and a smile. He was a good man, and he will be greatly missed.
Dear Paula, Chris and Erin,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in your time of grief. May your wonderful memories of your dad and husband bring you comfort, now and forever.
I am so sorry to hear of this loss, I have had the opportunity to work with John twice – the most recent was at SAIT, we have all moved on since, but I remember him fondly – My thoughts and prayers go to his family and to those who love him.
Sincerely,
Amy Budd
